EBEN-EZER:
“Hitherto hath the Lord helped us” – 1 Samuel 7:12
SAFE ENVIRONMENTAt Eben-Ezer, we strive to provide a safe home and learning environment for those escaping situations of abuse and domestic violence. With nearly 80% of Bolivian children facing physical, psychological, and/or sexual abuse in their homes, there is a dramatic need for such safe havens.
Though we have provisional licensing for our facility, we are still in the process of obtaining our permanent licensing—a process that can take years here in Bolivia. In the meantime, we have focused on developing our grounds, industries, educational program, and relationships with those in our local community. Since our first school-year in 2018, when we had a total of 11 students, we have had hundreds of students call Eben-Ezer their home, their refuge. Often during the breaks, when the kids can go home and spend time with their families, several of them will choose to spend their time on campus, helping with work and doing small outreach events. They truly feel like Eben-Ezer is their home and miss being here when they have to leave. |
GROWING CAMPUSSince 2018, we have constructed 10 staff homes; 2 sets of small apartments for visitors (one with a garage underneath); a dining hall and an indoor/outdoor kitchen for the school; a bakery; a nurses station; a tool room; a bakery; a carpentry shop; a greenhouse; and a chapel. We have also built a secondary school building with four large classrooms, bathrooms and two offices as well as dormitories for both boys and girls. In addition, we dug a well and constructed a water tower that provides clean water to all campus buildings. We have also purchased a solar electrical system to provide power for the campus.
We have also been busy planting and harvesting! The fruit trees in our orchard are flourishing. We have been enjoying oranges, mandarins, mangos, avocados and lemons from the orchard, along with an abundance of bananas, plantains, papayas, pineapples, passion fruit, guava and more from our gardens. |
OUR VISIONTO BRING CHRIST’S HEALING LOVE TO THE CHILDREN OF BOLIVIA. |
OUR MISSIONTO PROVIDE A PLACE OF SAFETY, SUPPORT, AND MENTORSHIP FOR UNDERPRIVILEGED YOUTH. |
As we study the life of Christ revealed in the four gospels, we see time and again that Jesus often healed people physically and emotionally before presenting them with great spiritual truths.
In Bolivia, where nearly 80% of children have suffered physical, psychological and/or sexual abuse in their homes, we see a great need for this healing touch. Eben-Ezer will be a safe place where children and young people can come as they are and experience healing in Christ. Staff will understand and be committed to the healing process of each individual.
As they move through the healing process and begin to experience healthy, loving relationships with staff and other students, they will, in turn, learn more and more about God’s unconditional love for them. They will be ready to hear about His plan for their lives and will begin to grow in Him.
After experiencing true healing and life transformation by the power of the Holy Spirit, they will begin to thrive in Christ and will naturally desire to share this experience with others. They will be equipped to share the life-changing Gospel—the good news about who Jesus is and what He has done—within their sphere of influence.
